"A POEM TO HONOR MY GRAND GIRL MADISON"

She was born with eyes to big for her face, She welcomed us by looking all over the place. Her smile will melt you from top to toe, She never meets anyone she doesn't know. She likes to take a bath with her big yellow duck, There are very few foods that make her say YUK!

She has 8 teeth and can she bite, She just started walking and that's a sight. She can fake a cough and a laugh on key, Just like a little mimic, she copies me. Jesus gave her a special ankle tattoo,, She didn't have to pay like me and you.

She goes to sleep best in Pappaw's arms, He is completely mesmerized by her charms. Our house is full of bottles, baby food, diapers, powder and such, Who would have ever thought our lives would change this much? She smells flowers, gives kisses, looks for birds, and plays peek-a-boo, She likes strolling, sucking on her pacie, and pretending to go nite-nite too.

For her first birthday she had a chocolate cake, She dived in with both hands, and what a mess she did make! On May 4th she was one year old, She is more precious than silver or gold. Whe warms my heart that little hon, Just because, "Her Name Is Madison!"

I love you Miss Madison!!!

"BARBIE"

A LITTLE GIRL FROM PAGETON
A COAL MINING TOWN
IN THE WEST VIRGINIA HILLS
THE HOME OF COAL MINERS
WHO WORKED HARD TO PAY THEIR BILLS

TO RAISE THEIR KIDS
AS BEST THAT THEY COULD
IN THOSE OLD COMPANY HOUSES
THAT WERE ALL MADE OF WOOD

THEY WERE ALL PAINTED YELLOW
STANDING ROW AFTER ROW
BUILT ON SLATE DUMPS
SOME HIGH AND SOME LOW

THE KIDS WERE ALL HAPPY
THEY DIDNT CARE
THE HOUSES  WERE COZY AND WARM
FROM THE COLD WINTERS AIR

BARBIE GREW UP THERE IN A FAMILY OF MANY
HER DADDY WORKED HARD
TO MAKE SURE THEY ALL HAD PLENTY

THATS WHERE BARBIE LEARNED HER GREAT GIFT OF SHARING
SHES NEVER FORGOTTEN
BECAUSE HER PARENTS WERE SO CARING

SHE FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL
SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS GROWN
SHE PACKED HER BELONGINGS
AND SET OUT ON HER OWN

SHE WORKED HERE AND THERE
AND SOON SHE WAS MARRIED
SHES LIVED ROUND THE WORLD
NOT TOO MANY PLACES HAS SHE TARRIED

RAISING KIDS OF HER OWN
SHES HAD A GOOD LIFE
BEING THE GREATEST MAMA AND WIFE

THE KIDS ARE GROWN AND GONE NOW
BUT YOU WONT FIND BARBIE SITTING
SHES NOT THE KIND
TO DO CROCHET OR KNITTING

SHES PUT TOGETHER THIS WEBSITE
FOR SCHOOLMATES TO SEE
TO SHARE HER MEMORIES
WITH YOU AND WITH ME

I VISIT HER WEBSITE  AGAIN AND AGAIN
JUST TO SEE WHAT SHES ADDED
AND MAYBE SPOT AN OLD FRIEND

BARBIE WORKS SO HARD
TO MAKE US HAPPY AND GLAD
SHE MAKES US FEEL YOUNG AGAIN
NO TIME FOR BEING SAD

SHES ONE OF MANY SUCCESS STORIES
FROM OLD GARY HIGH SCHOOL
BUT HER GREATEST SOURCE
IS THE GOLDEN RULE

I DIDNT KNOW BARBIE BEFORE THE COALDIGGER CHAT
NOW SHES MY DEAREST AND BEST FRIEND EVER
I THANK GOD FOR THAT
